Among all the arguments there are against packing light, this one is probably the most convincing >>> "But I'll start to smell if I have to keep re-wearing dirty clothes."
And this may be a true statement. However, there is one thing that can be done to combat the problem of dirty and/or smelly clothes. You can wash them!
It may not be a novel concept while you're at home, but the thought of having to wash your clothes while traveling can be a bit perplexing, not to mention a damper on all the fun you're having. But it doesn't have to be. There are 3 easy ways to wash your clothes while traveling:
1. Take your clothes to a local laundromat
Most countries have laundromats and chances are, the area where you are staying has one close by. Google one nearby, throw all the dirty clothes in a bag, and make your way to the laundromat. It probably won't cost too much and you'll have fresh and clean clothes in no time, and you don't have to do any of the washing yourself!
2. Book accommodations with laundry facilities
It's just one more step in your research of where you'd like to stay. Use a search engine like Booking.com or Airbnb to filter your results to include only those with Laundry Services or a Washing Machine. It's convenient to wash clothes where you're staying because you can do it multiple times for free or low cost and you can start a load of laundry at the end of the day and have those clothes ready to wear again in the morning!
3. Wash your clothes in the sink and hang dry
This is definitely be the most time consuming solution, but it works nonetheless. Fill up the bathroom sink with warm water and soap and scrub your clothes clean, rinse out, and hang on the shower rod, the bed frame, the door knob, wherever you can to get it to dry!
So now that you know 3 easy ways to wash your clothes while traveling, you have no excuse to overpack! If you pack light with versatile, mix and match outfit options and wash as you go, you'll adventure easy and look (and smell) good while you do it!
